Shelley's great grandmother taught her to make lace handkerchief edgings before she could read. Never having learned to follow written instructions, each crochet piece is created spontaneously as she crochets. As a result, Shelley works without using patterns, instead creating her unique designs.

Focusing on wearable art, Shelley begins by choosing a color pallete of natural and synthetic fibers from which to work. The fiber selection inspires the evolution of each piece as it becomes a hat or scarf, purse or throw - brimming with color and texture.
