About Shelley:
Shelley has lived in Boulder for over 35 years, arriving from St. Louis after high school, following a childhood dream to live in Colorado. She also spent a year living in Japan in order to study Japanese pottery with a 14th generation potter.
Involved in a wide variety of creative local business ventures, Shelley founded Boulder Arts and Crafts, one of the nation's oldest and most successful artist cooperatives, and in the early 1990's opened "As You Wish", the vanguard stores for the "Paint Your Own" pottery concept.
Her stores were featured on the Discovery Channel and examples of her work may be found in the book "Fired Up." Shelley has enjoyed teaching a variety of art and business classes since the early 1970's.
Today, working from her home studio, Shelley divides her time between her two loves, art and teaching. She has also opened her home and studio as an Artist Retreat and welcomes artists from around the country who are looking for time away from their hectic lives to focus on their art, relax and regroup. Her guests are encouraged to follow their own schedule, using the studio day or night while enjoying Boulder and the surroundings.
